Joe Lloyd Pack, a VFX Producer.
As part of VFX Guest Lecturers, this week our course leader treated us with a very unique guest, Joe Lloyd Pack. Joe is one of Double Negative VFX Producers. He talked to us about his work and gave us a detailed description of what a producer actually does. Many of the artist already in the industry seems to have no clue what is a VFX Producer.
A VFX Producer, as the word says, it produces the visual effects for a certain movie or tv. He told us that his main job is to "support the artist". He is the one that helps the VFX team to achieve a due date, this can be by providing more artist to a certain project or getting the resources in order to finish a project.
One of the coolest things of his job is that he gets to work hand to hand with the director and the VFX Supervisor, giving him authority to make big decisions. For me this will be a perfect job, being part of production as well as using VFX to make it happens. Definitely if I have the opportunity I would love to be a VFX Producer and then move on to a VFX Executive Producer. This will allow me to take part of big decisions, manage budget, and being part of a project since the beginning to the last day of the project.

I would definitely encourage people to look into producer's career in the VFX industry, I think it's a great opportunity to start a directing career as well.
