The Jungle Book - BAFTA Winner for Best Visual Effects

Last sunday, The Jungle Book won the 2016 BAFTA for best visual effects. The film was against other great and amusing vfx movies such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Dr. Strange, Arrival and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. All the movies had great VFX and some had more VFX compare to Jungle Book, or at least that's what many people would say. Jungle Book won and BAFTA for their great work in making almost everything in the movie CGI. There was only one actual character, Mowgli, portrait by Neel Sethi. In some behind the scenes is funny how Mowgli is interacting with a wolf and there is no actual wolf, the used a stuffie instead.

For most of the sets they sued blue screen and try to recreate the jungle themselves in CGI, for most if not all, the work was pretty impressive, due to the fact that the lighting, textures and color was precise with the actor.

Another great aspect of the movie were the CGI animals. Although you can tell they were not real animals,MPC made a great work on the animals and all the texture and the movements, there was one particular scene I liked that was when Bagheera is chasing Shere Khan, almost at the end, it looked very realistic and you can tell that was all real, even though it was not.

Overall I think Disney made a great movie and a great remake since the original Jungle Book released on 1967. The sticked to some classic such as "Bare Necessities" song and all the classic animals such as Bagheera, Baloo, Shere Khan, Kaa and even King Louie, although the King Louie, I think they over exaggerated and made him way too big.

I would give the movie 9.0/10, the job with all the CG sets was incredible, the lighting all the texture in the animals, and working with a kid is never easy, so at the end it reminded me of the original Jungle Book and how much I enjoyed it.
