Brazil (1985)

Today as part of our weekly film club, we watched Brazil a 1985 movies. This movie has a strong message, which is basically don't let anything or anybody to keep you inside the box, let your creativity grow as much as you want. The movie is about a society in which everybody has a roll and there are a lot of "terrorist" that attack to protest against this way of living. The idea of the movie is great, what do not work for me is the way the filmed it. The movie itself gives you a very depressing look, and a lot of aspects that you wouldn't understand. Also when I was watching it I thought there were a lot of random things that takes you away from the main point. The main character is a normal worker that do everything people tell him to do, but he has an imagination or dream that let him grow his imagination and in one point he's mixing his imagination with real life. It's funny now thinking about it that his mom, a very old lady is taking a lot of plastic surgeries to make herself look younger and in one way, that is her dream so basically she is accomplishing her dream, while her son, ther main characters is stuck at work doing things he dislikes. The most inconsistent thing I saw in the movie is the title, "Brazil". Honestly I never felt any connection with Brazil as in the country, the only reference I grabbed was at the end when in the credit scene the putted a music that said "...Brazil..." and that's it.

The image above, is the original poster of the movie, a very boring but still quite interesting picture. The one beneath, is a more recent and a new poster of the movie, that it's about the movie and it shows the theme of letting your dreams or imagination come out of your head, and make them real.

I personally didn't enjoy the movie and nor did many of my colleagues, Maybe is a movie more dedicated for people from that time or for older people.

I would rate if 3.5/10, didn't understand many parts of the movie, I don't like the title, but as for VFX, it did not have awful VFX, I would say there were decent effects and maybe that saved the movie.
