Andrew Schlussel! MPC

One of the greatest guest speaker we have ever had, Andrew Schlussel. Andrew is the Global Head of Training and Development for Moving Picture Company (MPC). He came to talk to us for an exclusive presentation of the BAFTA and ACADEMY winner film, The Jungle Book (2016).

The Jungle Book (2016) was a combination of amazing VFX and great coordination of bluescreen and vfx supervision. The overall movie looks so amazing and is very difficult to believe that every set, animal and asset, was made using 3D Computer generated imagery. He explained every detail of the movie and how was it made, every CGI character and every render and how was it made. He explained the research they made to understand the anatomy of every animal and make it look as realistic as possible. He show step by step of the animal creating from the research to the final render and the overall result was amazing.

Another great tip he told us was to always use photoreal reference. Every time we model something in 3D or create something in photoshop it might be difficult to believe it unless we support it with some kind of photoreal reference.

Andrew gave a great talk, I think was very informative and was very useful. I always wanted to be a generalist in VFX aspects, but he suggested to only focus in one aspect in order to have really good skills. I trust Andrew with this things, he is the head of training after all and he has huge experience in this matter.

I think we should be getting more talks like Andrew. He is the head of training and he knows what students should be focusing in.

Thank you Andrew Schlussel for one of the best talks I've ever had.
